Since 2013 and in accord with eKitabu's mission to realize inclusive and equitable quality education for all children, leaving no one behind, eKitabu has been inviting students from over 8,000 public and private schools across Kenya to submit essays online at and through other modes of submission for the annual eKitabu Digital Essay Competition (DEC) program.

Digital StoryTime

Since 2018, eKitabu has delivered over 337 sign language videos and storybooks in 6 African sign languages. The content we have developed in Studio KSL have reached about 3,500 learners in schools and attracted over 12M+ viewers to date on Akili Kids TV according to independent reporting by GeoPoll. The content created by Studio KSL and packaged as Digital StoryTime is designed to support language acquisition and build communication skills, laying the foundation for literacy.
